Born and raised in the SF Bay Area, Chicago-based artist Caroline Lee Liu makes drawings and objects that investigate cyclical time and places of transition. Her work draws from everyday objects: the ceiling fan in her apartment becomes a flower on a quilt, the full moon in October 2018 becomes a circular drawing. By doing so, she tries to show how the familiar can become wonderful and the wonderful, familiar.

Caroline has shown at Site:Brooklyn, Roman Susan, and Zhou B Art Center. She received her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in the Advanced Painting program in 2019. Shortly after, she attended the LAUNCH Invitational Residency at the Chicago Artists Coalition.

Caroline is also part of the collective Quilt Buddies, with Elaine Hsu and Jeremy Sublewski, as well as the publishing collective West Coast Friendship Club.
